If there is anyone out there who still doubts that America is a place where all things are possible; who still wonders if the dream of our founders is alive in our time; who still questions the power of our democracy, tonight is your answer.

It’s the answer told by lines that stretched around schools and churches in numbers this nation has never seen; by people who waited three hours and four hours, many for the very first time in their lives, because they believed that this time must be different; that their voice could be that difference.

It’s the answer spoken by young and old, rich and poor, Democrat and Republican, black, white, Latino, Asian, Native American, gay, straight, disabled and not disabled – Americans who sent a message to the world that we have never been a collection of Red States and Blue States: we are, and always will be, the United States of America.

It’s the answer that led those who have been told for so long by so many to be cynical, and fearful, and doubtful of what we can achieve to put their hands on the arc of history and bend it once more toward the hope of a better day.

It’s been a long time coming, but tonight, because of what we did on this day, in this election, at this defining moment, change has come to America.

I just received a very gracious call from Senator McCain. He fought long and hard in this campaign, and he’s fought even longer and harder for the country he loves. He has endured sacrifices for America that most of us cannot begin to imagine, and we are better off for the service rendered by this brave and selfless leader. I congratulate him and Governor Palin for all they have achieved, and I look forward to working with them to renew this nation’s promise in the months ahead.

I want to thank my partner in this journey, a man who campaigned from his heart and spoke for the men and women he grew up with on the streets of Scranton and rode with on that train home to Delaware, the Vice President-elect of the United States, Joe Biden.

I would not be standing here tonight without the unyielding support of my best friend for the last sixteen years, the rock of our family and the love of my life, our nation’s next First Lady, Michelle Obama. Sasha and Malia, I love you both so much, and you have earned the new puppy that’s coming with us to the White House. And while she’s no longer with us, I know my grandmother is watching, along with the family that made me who I am. I miss them tonight, and know that my debt to them is beyond measure.

To my campaign manager David Plouffe, my chief strategist David Axelrod, and the best campaign team ever assembled in the history of politics – you made this happen, and I am forever grateful for what you’ve sacrificed to get it done.

But above all, I will never forget who this victory truly belongs to – it belongs to you.

I was never the likeliest candidate for this office. We didn’t start with much money or many endorsements. Our campaign was not hatched in the halls of Washington – it began in the backyards of Des Moines and the living rooms of Concord and the front porches of Charleston.

It was built by working men and women who dug into what little savings they had to give five dollars and ten dollars and twenty dollars to this cause. It grew strength from the young people who rejected the myth of their generation’s apathy; who left their homes and their families for jobs that offered little pay and less sleep; from the not-so-young people who braved the bitter cold and scorching heat to knock on the doors of perfect strangers; from the millions of Americans who volunteered, and organized, and proved that more than two centuries later, a government of the people, by the people and for the people has not perished from this Earth. This is your victory.

I know you didn’t do this just to win an election and I know you didn’t do it for me. You did it because you understand the enormity of the task that lies ahead. For even as we celebrate tonight, we know the challenges that tomorrow will bring are the greatest of our lifetime – two wars, a planet in peril, the worst financial crisis in a century. Even as we stand here tonight, we know there are brave Americans waking up in the deserts of Iraq and the mountains of Afghanistan to risk their lives for us. There are mothers and fathers who will lie awake after their children fall asleep and wonder how they’ll make the mortgage, or pay their doctor’s bills, or save enough for college. There is new energy to harness and new jobs to be created; new schools to build and threats to meet and alliances to repair.

The road ahead will be long. Our climb will be steep. We may not get there in one year or even one term, but America – I have never been more hopeful than I am tonight that we will get there. I promise you – we as a people will get there.

There will be setbacks and false starts. There are many who won’t agree with every decision or policy I make as President, and we know that government can’t solve every problem. But I will always be honest with you about the challenges we face. I will listen to you, especially when we disagree. And above all, I will ask you join in the work of remaking this nation the only way it’s been done in America for two-hundred and twenty-one years – block by block, brick by brick, calloused hand by calloused hand.

What began twenty-one months ago in the depths of winter must not end on this autumn night. This victory alone is not the change we seek – it is only the chance for us to make that change. And that cannot happen if we go back to the way things were. It cannot happen without you.

So let us summon a new spirit of patriotism; of service and responsibility where each of us resolves to pitch in and work harder and look after not only ourselves, but each other. Let us remember that if this financial crisis taught us anything, it’s that we cannot have a thriving Wall Street while Main Street suffers – in this country, we rise or fall as one nation; as one people.

Let us resist the temptation to fall back on the same partisanship and pettiness and immaturity that has poisoned our politics for so long. Let us remember that it was a man from this state who first carried the banner of the Republican Party to the White House – a party founded on the values of self-reliance, individual liberty, and national unity. Those are values we all share, and while the Democratic Party has won a great victory tonight, we do so with a measure of humility and determination to heal the divides that have held back our progress. As Lincoln said to a nation far more divided than ours, “We are not enemies, but friends…though passion may have strained it must not break our bonds of affection.” And to those Americans whose support I have yet to earn – I may not have won your vote, but I hear your voices, I need your help, and I will be your President too.

And to all those watching tonight from beyond our shores, from parliaments and palaces to those who are huddled around radios in the forgotten corners of our world – our stories are singular, but our destiny is shared, and a new dawn of American leadership is at hand. To those who would tear this world down – we will defeat you. To those who seek peace and security – we support you. And to all those who have wondered if America’s beacon still burns as bright – tonight we proved once more that the true strength of our nation comes not from our the might of our arms or the scale of our wealth, but from the enduring power of our ideals: democracy, liberty, opportunity, and unyielding hope.

For that is the true genius of America – that America can change. Our union can be perfected. And what we have already achieved gives us hope for what we can and must achieve tomorrow.

This election had many firsts and many stories that will be told for generations. But one that’s on my mind tonight is about a woman who cast her ballot in Atlanta. She’s a lot like the millions of others who stood in line to make their voice heard in this election except for one thing – Ann Nixon Cooper is 106 years old.

She was born just a generation past slavery; a time when there were no cars on the road or planes in the sky; when someone like her couldn’t vote for two reasons – because she was a woman and because of the color of her skin.

And tonight, I think about all that she’s seen throughout her century in America – the heartache and the hope; the struggle and the progress; the times we were told that we can’t, and the people who pressed on with that American creed: Yes we can.

At a time when women’s voices were silenced and their hopes dismissed, she lived to see them stand up and speak out and reach for the ballot. Yes we can.

When there was despair in the dust bowl and depression across the land, she saw a nation conquer fear itself with a New Deal, new jobs and a new sense of common purpose. Yes we can.

When the bombs fell on our harbor and tyranny threatened the world, she was there to witness a generation rise to greatness and a democracy was saved. Yes we can.

She was there for the buses in Montgomery, the hoses in Birmingham, a bridge in Selma, and a preacher from Atlanta who told a people that “We Shall Overcome.” Yes we can.

A man touched down on the moon, a wall came down in Berlin, a world was connected by our own science and imagination. And this year, in this election, she touched her finger to a screen, and cast her vote, because after 106 years in America, through the best of times and the darkest of hours, she knows how America can change. Yes we can.

America, we have come so far. We have seen so much. But there is so much more to do. So tonight, let us ask ourselves – if our children should live to see the next century; if my daughters should be so lucky to live as long as Ann Nixon Cooper, what change will they see? What progress will we have made?

This is our chance to answer that call. This is our moment. This is our time – to put our people back to work and open doors of opportunity for our kids; to restore prosperity and promote the cause of peace; to reclaim the American Dream and reaffirm that fundamental truth – that out of many, we are one; that while we breathe, we hope, and where we are met with cynicism, and doubt, and those who tell us that we can’t, we will respond with that timeless creed that sums up the spirit of a people:

A little over a month ago we finally bumped into each other at a show at The Knitting Factory. We spoke for a while about all things Hip-Hop and the hustle it takes to get on. The conversation was fantastic, which is why I decided to sit down with him again to let him share some of those words of wisdom with everyone. Along the way we also discussed his own career and how he’s worked his way to being such a talked about emcee.

Adam Bernard: Start everyone off with some basic background info. Who is Donny Goines, where is he from and what have some of his previous projects been?
Donny Goines: Well, Donny Goines is just like you. I'm an ordinary person that's trying to do extraordinary things. Many people know me from many of my previous projects such as The Excerpt Pg. 1, About the Author, and Off the Books, just to name a few, but I do many different things. I blog and do various things besides music. I just work hard to get where I'm going.

Adam Bernard: You have a lot going on; let's start with the musical aspect of things. What kind of an emcee is Donny Goines? What can people expect when he steps up to the mic and rhymes?
Donny Goines: I am a very truthful MC, if I could categorize it one way. I am very candid and wear my heart on my sleeve. I don't pull any punches and I really just speak on things that are true to me. When most people listen to my music the first thing they tell me is "I can relate," and that's exactly what I try to do, create music that reaches people just like myself. I don't party with millionaires, nor associate with the rich. I am at the bottom right now, where the majority lies, and that's what you can expect to hear from me, music from that perspective.

Adam Bernard: Your name has been everywhere I turn as of late. Talk to me about your hustle and how it's evolved over the years.
Donny Goines: My personal motto is "If you don't know my name I'm not working hard enough," and I live by those words. I make sure that my name is spoken or mentioned often and I don't slack at all when it comes to my hustle. The day of this interview for instance, I got up and filmed for a new blog I'm going to premier soon. Now I’m doing this interview with you. Next I'm going to film a final episode for another blog and then go perform at S.O.Bs. Not to mention my single will be debuting on MTV2 today, so that gives you an idea of how hard I work.

Adam Bernard: I don't know if you want to help the knuckleheads out, but in the event that you do, hit me with some of the most common mistakes you see artists making in regards to their hustle?
Donny Goines: False Sense of Entitlement. Simply put, many artists believe that if they make a song that you, the bloggers and writers, are supposed to post it. They may feel because they have a video out it should be on BET, or their single should be spinning on Hot97, but the truth is it doesn't work that way. You have to earn your spot and this game is not for the lazy types. At the end of the day artists who really want to make it will just shut up, work hard and reap the benefits. Others will have a nine to five soon.

Adam Bernard: You mentioned earlier you’re involved in the world of blogging. Talk to me about that.
Donny Goines: Yes, I love to write, hence the stage name. {laughs} I am an avid blogger. I have many published columns on various websites. It's just something that's second nature to me. The reason why I think I am a good artist is because music just flows through me. It's the same exact thing with words. I have always loved to read and write so I am well versed in the English language and this is a big reason why I blog so much. I just love to write.

Adam Bernard: Can everything you do be merged, and if so, how?
Donny Goines: Yes and no. I believe that all my endeavors can be under one umbrella, but it takes a very strong support system to do so. I have a management team, publicist, assistant, video director/photographer, etc. and these people help me to keep everything in its place. As time moves on I will start to blend my music with my charity efforts and other ventures that I will pursue. Certain things, though, I believe can not be integrated. Personal aspects of my life, which can't be shared with the public, won’t be merged with my movement. Furthermore, I believe that certain things need to be separate from music at times. Let's say if I wanted to start a clothing company, honestly, I probably wouldn't intertwine my music into it because I feel as if those are two entirely different things. Sometimes it’s good to separate.

Adam Bernard: What do you have on tap for us next?
Donny Goines: Minute After Midnight. My official debut album. It is being mixed and mastered as we speak and will drop in December. This project will serve as a great introduction of me to a larger audience and I think many people will enjoy it. It's Executive Produced by Dame Grease (DMX, Freeway, Jay Z, The Clipse, etc.) and features production from Statik Selektah, M Phazes, Apple Juice Kid, Dubb Z and DJ Snips. My girl Tess is also singing in a couple of hooks. Look out for that one.

I had the privledge last night of going out to the spot of chilling @ south paw for CMJ.

Super phenomenon cats U-N-I, who supposedly won some award were not only one...cool as hell..but two..talented as hell (and we all know the talent of "hell")

they also had a nice girl fan presence (or atleast they became fans) and some cool characters rolling with them. Vimby was totally in the house filming so im Happy that they got the hook ups. shout to Ann the fly camera superwo-man.

I met mibbs from PAcific Division and told him about the clothing line i used to wear called pacific ocean....but i think he thought i was crazy...and I then...i realize now its pacific sunwear...

anyways..
whata dope time...the LA cats stole the show. From what I see as performers.

I also met Folk and Stress...yeah man...these kids gotta positive head on thier hsoulders and are not afraid to admit that they like the other artists in the scene.
I think thats cool. But hey, I ofcourse only know whats cool.

so anyways...im here..the middle of nowhere tour #1 meth town in the USA

its pretty crazy...i must say.

everyone is nice but like too drunk. Mankato was a messy drunkard brawl and anxiety has been small.except route 60 was blocked all over the place. I ended up in many gas stations and my ratio of selling random cds have been great.

10 dollars in Iowa and 10 dollars at a diner...

its a always good showing to know you can sell in basic conversation.

in my adventures, i choose to be daring. i have found a liking to a young fella in Sioux city and want to help him gt out of this g-d forsaken city. today's topic is trust. i advise you all to take a good look at this word while you continue in any of your life endeavors. Trust is something that takes me a long time to build. It can take time and time again. Action after action. Good Deed after good deed.

as a child. You are earning trust of your parents.

"go to bed at 10 pm," Mother says.

"Ok Mom," you reply.

They tell you what to do and TRUST you will be obedient.
They tell you what to do you say ok , and they TRUST you.

Consider you go to go to bed next year every night at 10 pm. Then you get allowed an extra hour next year.. That year you go to bed at 11pm every night just like you say you will. They TRUST you. NEXT year the same thing and the year after youre allowed to stay up late and go to bed latest at 1 am.

TRUST from others builds discipline in your character.

Provided one day you meet the wrong kids. You stay out late just once. You end up drinking all night or some other mischievous act and get caught publically my your Mom and Dad.

This now leaves you with no trust!

Why??? You worked so hard, earning trust by going to bed every night on time for years. You only mess up once! And now, that TRUST is taken away.

say they let it slide and it happens once again in two weeks. Add one more to that in a another week.

Now all anyone can remember is that you got into a lot of trruble in three weeks.

In music is sort of the same thing. News and decisions are only current. There is a underlying threshold of time consraints on how people judge you. its all about the last thing you did. If that thing is negative, it may last a whole lot longer.

KEEP DOING GOOD and its never too late to TRUST in yourself. You can start your day over.

hey everyone....Life is but a dream. I sweated off a good two pounds on stage last night and had my frist near perfect set with yak ballz as the hype guy.

i though this morning when i have these shows coming up, that i really want to have a stronger set. yak's set is so tight that I just feel this year is gonna be a step up...anyways. We definitely know how to rock it...just look for yourself!!

hey guys i know you want pictures and all but its 4 45 am and im in a remote basement somewhere in maryland. we just rocked philly ct boston And more. Its a great experience so far and I just love the way it settles in ...as a human in this outerbody experience of rap, or as F sean says, avoiding real life.!

all i can say is this as a tip for most of your people, sleeping is a great tool of rest.staying awake isn't.
i got to say that when I have chance ill give pictures but watching none shall pass behind

the philly crowd is an experience that cant be captured on film...'

needed vacation to Israel

What better place to go to on a vacation. Sometimes we work so hard in this music business, we forget that the resting part can help us more than hurt us. You don't want to end up like this guy, washed up ashore, because you worked to hard.

To me, vacation is investment. Relaxation is necessary. People pay tons to relax. Look at those Chinese massage chairs in the mall. Ten dollars for ten minutes. My back at this point is stiff as a mother
(and you know mom can be stiff)

I plan on going to Israel to relax and revitalize in my country's sun. I love the sweat i endure there, the sea water, and the dead sea as well. The air is clean and not new Jersey. i walk in sandals the whole time and my feet get tan. I come back home and I am bronzed for a grueling one month fall tour to support the new LP and the album release on September 10Th at the knitting factory. For my first release, i want to come form the Holy Land. 1400 fora ticket, but my Sapta (grand-ma) will never forget that i came to visit her and relax in the sun of Eretz Yisroel.

Wow everyone...so many superstars to be seen. It was a day of fun, grace, unity and legends of our own backyard. For any emcee or producer, you should be ashamed if you weren't there! ( a necessity to be seen at event like this )
Everyone you can imagine was there from DJ Premier to KRS One.
Buckshot and jeru da Damaja were there.
Invincible was there rocking the after party. Lil Sci was chilling in the crowd filing the ever so energetic set of buckshot.

I met Akir for the first time and congratulation to his new boy! (You got a good rapper as a father!)

So i wandered back to the spot where there were really pretty black girls and some flashy kats with dreads and clipboards. Its weird to see these guys because as an artist yo think...hey look at these guys, with a fake Source mag thing.

There was a dope rapper who was well dressed. his last rhyme also did not rhyme at all and it was still a punch line. I'm not sure what he said, but i also figured out it was Mickey Factz. He is pretty popular. He rocked the festival and after he got of he went right over to get on it.!

oh yeah did i mention...h kep s KOSHER and celebrates PESACH (Passover) mAZEL tOV mICKEY fACTZ!!! that sounds like his new name. Mazel Tov Mickey. I should make him a shirt that says that!

couch surfing preparation

whats up party people. As you know, I am a connoisseur of couch surfing and more of a renegading art of the touring artist specifically i am think of just sleeping on couches anywhere or actually just starting a tv show called "nap anywhere." the gist of it will be on TV getting filmed for 45 seconds napping the weirdest of places. LA , NJ, Walgreen's, banks, job interviews, etc.

anyways...that's another story. But i wanna show you where I warm up..! (note the amazing couch above, with ribbed (pronounced-rib-bed) pillows and soft cushion accompanied by a Autumn floral design. She is wonderful.

*Aba doesn't like me working out over night. This should be noted that if you choose to warm up for your couch surfing please do so in the day time so you DO NOT waste your bed at home.

Opio runs the show with joy-make a Jew go Oy

check it out ya ll. I had the utmost highest privilege of checking out the super ill fresh funky amazing Opio of Souls of Mischief three times in my life. The first time was at a show in Nashville.

April 13th 2007 Nashville
kills it. We didn't talk much.

February 22/23rd Denver kills it. i met him after the show at the bar down the treet with A plus.

February 24th i swear...boulder...he kills it...but according to him I kill it too..

My plan was this. I heard they were at the Marquis Theatre so I rolled up and paid to get in. I meet Tajai and holler at him and he gives me the go ahead to roll ot he next show. So i show up early. We chop it up about a couch surfing book. Next thing you know, I got the go ahead!
I managed to get a 20 minute set and on stage with Legendary rhymesayer MUSAB. Opio said to me "Yo man, you made my night."

800 people screaming for him and his crew. Hiero shuts the whole show down.Let me tell you I'm from the east coast in New Jersey so we don't see a ill west coast crew shut it down like this in colorado ever. And yet still, a man this humble can roll up on you and say such a thing.

OK now why would i make you bug about this story? no reason. But the significance of me rocking on their show (and MUSAB invites me on stage to rock with him) after having the balls to go across the USA and just meeting Tajai the night before in Denver was a really good look. I sold enough merch that night to get me to Utah. Later that night, a drunk patron smashed in my car (tour pathfinder) in a snowstorm and i had to get to Utah with an 8 hour drive.(by myself)

...you see..now his album is out July 15Th in stores. I don't want to review his music. I want to tell all the thousands of readers that humble respect for an up and comer like me will definitely win my vote for Opio any day. The opportunity to get into the show and witness how big shows are done was even great. The opportunity to tell you that his live performance will blow away his CD and it just got perfect reviews and the cover of Myspace.

now try to envision this.
this is what underground music is all about. Independent handshakes are to be cherished because just a few months ago we were there (Boulder, Colorado) and now we are here (album release on cover of myspace!). Unforgettable moments in hip hop history. An artist wins when he lets us win with him too. That's what Opio does. He lets us win with him.

yeah this tour was quite crazy. It is fresh to know you just toured with someone who has been featured on MTV2. Yak Ballz has that is! Yeah. Anyways the west coast is super ill and i gained mucho fans, especially in Indio California at La Estancia. i stayed on a killer couch man. I actually met that fool Erasmo in San Antonio at the Count Bass D show with Scooba Gooding Jr. anyways. This was really cool and sometime they report yak Ballz being Jewish although he is of Iranian Descent. I think that's dope since like our countries are gonna go to war and we still go out for bagels sometimes and talk about being rap superstars.

Wake Up and smell the coffee yall. Kosha Dillz hit a Brewed Awakening. This is the spot to hit on main street if you are in metuchen NJ. I'm sure you guys are all Starbucks shotted out but this time its really going down. I know you're wondering about the bang bang that must be on the menu but let me tell you danishes and mocha's are good enough of a reason to roll in. After I boycotted the bagel dish for their bad service and 3 dollar plus everything bagel with cream cheeses'
but how can you complain about this place...not only do they have a fine ol menu of the bomb diggy omelets...but you can also get a $25 dollar voucher for the eats next door by taking a survey. With the Internet that is free, you are able to get three to four days of good comfortable work. Thats right yall. Brewed Awakening is putting all your corny coffee shops to shame. If you are an artist on tour...well ...come see it..Its famous. Even Yak Ballz who recently appeared on MTV2 and the Paid Dues Festival has eaten there and sipped some of their java.
To top it all off...
you can finish most of the mocha and bring it back to your crib to microwave up while you tell all your friends how bomb diggy dilly this place is, while bumping kosha dillz on your myspace ...yeah!

JEWS IN ARLINGTON CEMETARY (rapper friends tour DC)

What an amazing place I must say. the Arlington cemetery brought myself and DJ Vallis to remembrance of his fallen comrades in a miles and miles of tombstones. I realized that as a "Cohen" i should not be there."

so lets think that my brother Eilon told me I had to bounce (Cohen are forbidden to walk in cemetery. Once a Cohen dies there is a special area for them because they are high priests) I went out of respect for my DJ who is a 5 time veteran. this is just something ill you have to do...but before that we even seen girl Jews up in Arlington. Story has it that even loved ones who bore the trife of being with their fighters also get respect. As part of the 4Th of July, lets remember that Jews stood up for the America that we live in today. I am proud to be an American by the way. I know that's a controversial hip hop topic.

Let me explain to you how my boy is the #2 hip hop artist in Israel and still has to live in a flat and ride scooter. Gas prices overseas are 7 dollars plus. Freedom of Speech is here and great jobs and education are all over the place. Carpe Diem.

kosha dillz C RAYZ WALZ GRADUATION TOUR

so at 10 in the morning which is quite early to see me up...today I am wondering what time I will leave for the graduation tour. The more eeimportant part is that I will have to ge tback here with few hours sleep throughout the night back form baltimore. The worst part about that is not me being tired, faling asleep on the road crashing and dying, but rather driving with C Rayz Walz as he snores for hours straight. Sur,e you figure big superstars must get his their before they comes to the show in their kng size bed with feathered pillows? No. Not C rayz. He only snores with greasy flem build up through out the car rides down to these shows we play. He also looks at you while he is sleeping in a sense of keeping a conversation but he is really not. He is really sleeping with his eyes open, telling you he likes your songs, and starts twitching. He is somewhere in nYC ----I am sure he will get in contact soon...ahhh ...(hours later).....and so he reappears...the retunr of c rayz walz..now i gotta walk my dog...pick up tame one form the fucking metuchen trainstation..and have C rayz limo service get mapques to my crib....you figure thi sis all fun...but in reality I cant wait till the shwos are over!! SO rule of thumb..when one feels down..let go of everything..just be...and eat a everything (bagel with cream cheese--haha!!)

O I spend countless night staring at this computer which is so damn old Currently, I am looking for new inspiration for my album "Kronobiggy: life chronicles." MAybe college graduation can cut it but I don't think that is to real of a topic for hip-hop. For all those who don't know, kosha dillz began his life as "kronobiggy" when he set foot into the viscious chatrooms of AOL before kosher dill evolved into the real thing at bragginrites in novemebr at 98...True story! I found myself making up my own words and here it is....now after current street credit...we slanguicized kosher dill into kosha dillz...straight out the jar! Since dial up connection in my parents house runs rampant 24 hours a day...I wonder if lots of my patience comes from dial-up...if we all had dial-up..we might be more patient as artists....give the fact that i wait 40 minutes to hear your beat, as yall only wait 3 minutes....there it is...I cna write a song about my dial-up connection while I wait to hear a decent beat 40 minutes away...Its almost liek the tape cassette deck of computers. I remember when I got my first car cd player...in the ford taurus....another source of inspiration for my album...my 95 hand me down ford taurus in metallic maroon...I never took pictures..it was more of a spiritual journey in that puppy... well actually more liek an illegal spiritual journey that was realized after all illegality stopped!!! haahahah and so the kronobiggy life chronicle proceeds....hip hop is in a jar of kosha dillz infront of the dial-up computer...
